Pumpkin
Slaughter 2003
This
years annual Pumpkin Slaughter had a small turn out, but needless
to say SCSFFS isn't known for huge ones. It was a beautiful
October day. Babler State Park was looking very fallish from
the trees starting to loose their colorful leaves, to are friends
that bats nestled tightly in the rafters of the Alta Shelter.
It was the day that helped set the tone for this SCSFFS event.
Special thanks goes to Marie and Wayne for cooking up all the
food. There were 6 competitors in the pumkin carving competition;
Marie Willbrand winner of "Best Use of Vegtables"
award, Sean Ross winner of "Best Use of Natural Material"
award, Joe Keethler winner of "Best Carving" and "Best
Overall" awards, Breanna Keethler winner of "Most
Disturbing" award, and Jaret Keethler winner of "It
came from the Alta Shelter" award. Thanks goes to Christine
Besher and Sean Sendlien for judging the pumpkins and creating
categories.
After
the awards were handed out and photo sessions ended it was time
for the "Slaughter", pumkins were fired one by one
at the stone wall of the Alta Shelter until all were destroyed.
Hayride
specialist Sean Sendlien coordinated the ride through the winding
roads of Babler strapped with his Ford Expedition and straw
filled trailer, he led the group around Babler at a easy going
speed of 20mph (kidding).
All
and all it was a nice fall day with all the elements and a great
time as usual.
See you all next year!
